The story of California that is so often told is that of Hollywood and Silicon Valley and their sunshine and spectacular wealth. But large parts of Inland California are lagging. The cheers about our great economy have not rewarded the workers who lost homes and savings in the downturns of 2007. Yes, California is the 5th largest economy in the world, but we also have the highest poverty rate: 19%. We have two Californias, and we need to close the gap. We can do this by investing and giving opportunities to our communities like Senate District 23 to ensure health and prosperity across the state.
