Redlands, CA – California State Controller Betty Yee has thrown her support behind Kris Goodfellow in California's 23rd State Senate District race. As the chief fiscal officer of California, the fifth largest economy in the world, Yee is responsible for accountability and disbursement of the state’s financial resources.
Yee’s announcement comes on the heels of endorsements from SEIU California, representing 700,000 workers, and State Senator Connie Leyva.
"As a journalist and small business-owner, Kris has spent her career uncovering the truth and empowering workers," said Yee. "Kris' vision to bring good-paying, clean energy jobs to the Inland Empire, tackle income inequality and reduce the soaring costs of healthcare and education is why I'm pleased to support her campaign for State Senate."
"I look forward to working with Controller Yee to give workers and small businesses the resources needed to grow the Inland Empire's middle class," said Goodfellow. "Controller Yee has been a champion for economic growth in our state, and I'm honored to have her support."
As the state’s chief fiscal officer, Ms. Yee chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as a member of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) Boards. These two boards have a combined portfolio of more than $570 billion. Ms. Yee also serves on the Ceres Board of Directors, a nonprofit organization working to mobilize many of the world’s largest investors to advance global sustainability and take stronger action on climate change.
